Words of Wisdom

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; It is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; It does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things...For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.

So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

I Corinthians 13:1-13

"How did the rose ever open its heart and give to this world all its beauty? It felt the encouragement of light against it's being, otherwise we all remain too frightened."

-Hafiz

A MASTER’S WISDOM

Written by Oso Mfundishi Tayari Casel

JUST PUSH!!

Greetings to the Wonderful Students
of Shaktis' Elements:

When you first started your lessons enthusiasm filled your waking days.....Remember? You couldn't wait to get to class and you enjoyed practicing in between those days. After awhile as you became more familiar with the class structure did you eliminate some of your practice and then promise you would do a serious work out but save it later for class? Well......

Pushing yourself in class is always good. You get the extra boost from your fellow classmates and the spirit of the workout is always up. However, can you still recall your teacher's voice telling you to "Practice"?

WORDS TO LIVE BY

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Words of Wisdom

Quotes from the Bhagavad Gita:

"A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return"

"The power of God is with you at all times; through the activities of mind, senses, breathing, and emotions; and is constantly doing all the work using you as a mere instrument."

"The mind acts like an enemy for those who do not control it."

"Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is."

Words of Wisdom

"The fragrance of sandalwood and rosebay
Does not travel far.
But the fragrance of virtue
Rises to the heavens.

Desire never crosses the path
Of virtuous and wakeful men.
Their brightness sets them free.

How sweetly the lotus grows
In the litter of the wayside.
It's pure fragrance delights the heart.

Follow the awakened
And from among the blind
The light of wisdom
Will shine out, purely."

-Dhammapada, the sayings of the Buddha

Words of Wisdom

Then said Almitra, Speak to us of Love. And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them. And he said: When love beckons to you follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.... All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

Kahlil Gibran (The Prophet)

FALL RISES UP NORTH

Written by Megan Marie McDonald

Open your eyelids
and welcome the dim, clouded sunrise.
Breathe deep the crisp morning air
as it seeps in the old, cracked windowpane
I left open all night.
Squint your eyes
and watch the sheer purple curtain
glow slightly
and blow lightly
against the low bookshelves.
Awaken your nose
to the aroma of the heater
in its ceremonial burning of the dust
that has accrued all summer long.
Open your ears
and listen to the raindrops
as they patter
