Catharine King
Opening Reception
Saturday, August 16th, 4-6 pm

Catharine King was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She took her B.F.A from University of Michigan School of Art and Design in 1996. She has worked as an assistant mural artist to Dorothea Rockburne. She studied abroad in Florence, Italy continuing her work in painting and sculpture. She is now a resident artist at the Satsuma Gallery in North Hollywood, CA.

King works primarily in oil paints, but enjoys ceramics and watercolor, exploring the ideas of nature and organic forms as expressed in their simplest states. Her bamboo paintings explore the idea of straight lines grown naturally. Catharine King's oil paintings experiment with color theory, as well as fundamental and organic forms expressed in their simplest states in nature.
