February Self-Healing Tips

Written by Julie Festa, L.Ac.

If there were one medicinal item I could take with me anywhere anytime and only one it would be some form of ginger.  Fresh ginger, Sheng Jiang to the Chinese, is a true phenomenon.  Warming, clearing, soothing, grounding, harmonizing – what else can you ask for from a medicinal food?

This Moment Is Our Own

Written by Megan Marie McDonald

Stand and face me,
toe to toe,
palm pressed against palm.
Bring your face close to mine.
I close my eyes and inhale
for you are as refreshing as the desert rain
and as solid as a desire lived.
Do not pull away
although I am a running river,
inconsistent in my ways,
because I'll love you
like a saxophone at midnight,
when the concrete jungle is put to bed.
I will be with you
like the ocean is with a seashell
even though you cannot see its presence.
My voice will follow you
like a trumpet after battle,
even when my body is not beside you.
Ease your way to my lips and
think not of past lovers or future mates.
This moment is ours.

HARMONY AND BALANCE

Written by Peter Robinson

Harmony and Balance are two different things.

Balance is created when two things of equal and opposite weight exist at opposite ends of an equally long lever.  Balance is an artificial state, because it implies stasis.  Nothing can remain in balance for long, because the world is constantly shifting.  As the Buddha said “All things are impermanent.”  In other words, all things change.
